Fresh off spending battle, Duncan plans second District Work Week

Anderson, SC- After an intense week in Washington fighting to cut government spending and reel in the deficit, freshman Congressman Jeff Duncan will be spending next week in the Palmetto State listening to the concerns of his constituents.  Duncan, who has been an active participant in the conservative’s spending battle, joined with many of his freshmen colleagues in pressing the Republican leadership to support at least $100 billion in spending cuts in the continuing resolution.

“When I ran a small business, looking for ways to save a dollar was just another part of the job” said Duncan.  “Congress needs to accept the same financial realities that families and businesses are facing across the country and look for practical ways to lower costs.  I believe run away government spending represents one of the greatest threats to our national security, which is why I’ve made fighting Washington’s urge to grow government one of my top priorities.”

Duncan’s last district work week took place during the first week of February where he held five town halls in five days and toured local businesses.  This district work week will bring the Congressman to different areas of his ten county district and provide several opportunities for constituents to have their voices heard.

“My goal is to listen as much as I can” Duncan said.  “The reason our country is facing a 14 trillion dollar debt is because Washington politicians from both parties simply haven’t done a good enough job listening to the people.  My last district work week gave me the opportunity to listen to the concerns of hundreds of constituents from across the district.  I’m hoping to have a similar opportunity during this upcoming week.”
