Duncan Releases Schedule for First District Work Week

January 26, 2011
Press Release

Anderson, SC- Congressman Jeff Duncan released his schedule for his first in-district work week since being sworn in to Congress on January 5th.  The Republican leadership in the House made major changes to the calendar this year to give members of Congress more contiguous work days in the district for the purpose of increasing their accessibility to constituents.  While members of Congress will remain in the district for longer periods of time than they had in previous Congresses, the number of days the US House will be in session remains the same.

“One of my most important responsibilities as a Congressman is to listen to the concerns of the people I work for; the citizens of South Carolina.  We’ve put together a number of events across the Third District designed to listen to issues facing the people of South Carolina and then bring those voices back to Washington.”

While Duncan has only served in the House for a few weeks, he says he’s eager to talk about his legislative goals and agenda.  “The people of South Carolina want the government to cut up the credit cards and stop the reckless spending.  Getting spending under control and Americans back to work has got to be our top priority.”

The plant began weaving fiberglass in 1951 and added synthetic fabrics to its offerings. In 1988, J.P. Stevens home fashions businesses were acquired by WestPoint Pepperell. The remaining Stevens business segments, including fiberglass, were organized into a new company known as JPS Textiles, Inc. Over the next two decades, the plant underwent many improvements through continued capitalization making it one of the most advanced fiberglass weaving operations in the world.
