Duncan Supports Second Article of Impeachment against President Biden

September 16, 2021

Due to the humanitarian and national security crisis President Joseph R. Biden's policies have caused at the southern border, Congressman Jeff Duncan signed on to a second article of impeachment against the President for endangering the security of the United States and countering the will of Congress. Through releasing illegal aliens into the United States, halting border wall construction, and failing to maintain points of entry, the Biden Administration allowed a surge of illegal aliens and illegal narcotics, including deadly fentanyl, to enter our country. These actions, and others, have undermined the will of Congress, the tenets of the Constitution, and rule of law, and have also endangered Americans and threatened our national security.

"The scenes emerging at our southern border are heartbreaking and deeply concerning. Since the President took office, the U.S.-Mexico border has developed into both a humanitarian and national security crisis, and it is only getting worse. Over 1.2 million illegal immigrants have been caught attempting to cross the border since President Biden took office, illegal border crossings have risen at a faster rate than any time in recent history, and border apprehensions are at an unprecedented high," said Congressman Jeff Duncan. "Our agents at the border and border facilities are overwhelmed and unable to maintain the decades-high surge in immigration due to the President's reckless immigration policies. Migrants are pouring in at record numbers, some of whom are illegally smuggling drugs and trafficking people across the border and into our communities. An influx of unvetted immigrants surging across the border from countries outside of central and South America potentially pose an even greater national security risk and terrorism threat."

"The President has failed to properly address or even acknowledge the severity of the southern border crisis that is intensifying daily. He has neglected to even visit the southern border, as has his appointed ‘border czar'. American cities along the border are defenseless and in need of more law enforcement as illegal immigrants pour in – unvetted, undocumented, and sometimes positive for COVID-19, putting vulnerable Americans at risk," Duncan continued. "The President's actions are a threat to our national security and the Constitution, so I am obligated to take action toward his removal from office. Impeachment is a very serious matter that I do not take lightly, but it is an action I must take in the best interest of our nation. The President promised to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States, but at the southern border, it is evident the President has failed to fulfill this charge."
