Washington, D.C. - Congressman Jeff Duncan (SC-03) released the following statement after the Republican Steering Committee selected Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers to serve as Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee for the 117th Congress:

“Congratulations to my good friend and colleague, Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers, on being selected by the Republican Steering Committee to serve as Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee for the 117th Congress. Congresswoman McMorris Rodgers has been a long-time leader on a variety of issues that have come before our committee, including fighting for American energy dominance, preserving our environment and the outdoors, advocating for affordable health care, and protecting American consumers. I have had the honor of serving on the Energy and Commerce Committee since 2017, and I’ve had the opportunity to work closely with Cathy on the Subcommittees on Energy and Environment and Climate Change. Cathy will be the first female Ranking Member in the history of this committee, and I applaud her on this great accomplishment. I look forward to continuing our committee work next Congress and congratulate the Congresswoman again on her new leadership role.”
