Washington, D.C. – Congressman Jeff Duncan (SC-03) issued the following statement on the passing of former Congressman Sam Johnson (TX-03):

“I’m deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Congressman Sam Johnson. Sam was a true public servant and an American hero. He served twenty-nine years as a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force, flying combat missions in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and was also held as a prisoner of war for seven years in the Hanoi Hilton. Following his service in the Air Force, Sam served another twenty-eight years in the United States House of Representatives. I’m honored to have had the opportunity to serve alongside former Congressman Johnson, my friend and one of my heroes. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time.”
