 - The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has awarded over $21 million to support health centers in their COVID-19 response efforts, including increased testing HERE.

Economic Update

The economy added 7.5 million jobs over the last two months. America is resilient! The May and June jobs reports show that safely reopening more of the economy and implementing programs like that Paycheck Protection Program are working. We’re on the right path. Let’s keep it up! More information HERE.

Paycheck Protection Program
The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) has been extended! The Small Business Administration is now accepting new applications through August 8, 2020. This program has supported over 50 million jobs. For information on how to apply click HERE.

Withdrawal from the WHO
President Trump has signaled the United States is in the process of formally withdrawing from the World Health Organization (WHO). Until the WHO commits to making serious changes, this is the right move. Hard-working American taxpayers shouldn’t be funding an organization that continues to promote the Chinese Communist Party’s lies about their involvement in spreading COVID-19, provides conflicting health information about the pandemic to the American people, and takes no accountability for their actions. More information HERE.
Religious Freedom for Little Sisters of the Poor
The Supreme Court ruled in favor of the Little Sisters of the Poor in their case against an Affordable Care Act mandate. The 7-2 decision states that President Trump acted within his authority when providing faith exemptions to an Obamacare mandate that requires employers to provide health insurance that includes contraception. This is a strong ruling on religious freedom by the Supreme Court. More information HERE.

Federal Ban on Robocalls Upheld
I’m pleased the federal ban on robocalls to cell phones was upheld by the Supreme Court. Justice Kavanaugh noted in the majority opinion, “Americans passionately disagree about many things. But they are largely united in their disdain for robocalls.” I couldn’t agree more, and there is more that must be done on this issue! More information HERE.

States Have Authority to Punish “Faithless” Electors
The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that states can remove and punish faithless electors who break their pledges to support designated candidates. This is a vitally important ruling to ensure the will of the people is properly executed. More information HERE.

Arrests for Damaging Statues
Four arrests were made due to damages to the Andrew Jackson statue near the White House. President Trump is doing his part, but now states need to step up! We cannot allow this chaos to continue. More information HERE.

Atlantic Coast Pipeline Cancelled
I’m extremely disappointed by the recent news that Dominion Energy and Duke Energy have decided to cancel the long-awaited Atlantic Coast Pipeline project. This natural gas pipeline would have strengthened American energy production and supplied safe, reliable, and affordable energy to consumers. It also would have generated over 17,000 jobs throughout the Southeast, further charging our economy. However, left-wing environmental extremists have been advocating for the cancellation of the project since the beginning. They challenged almost every single permit in an effort to delay construction and sought legal action whenever possible. Dominion and Duke decided that the potential for additional litigation was highly likely and unfortunately not worth continuing the project. I’ve long supported construction of the Atlantic Coast Pipeline. Read my full statement on this issue HERE.
