4-24-2020 Coronavirus Update

Press Release

Latest Coronavirus Update from Congressman Jeff Duncan:

Good news - the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and the Economic Injury and Disaster Loan (EIDL) Program have been replenished! President Trump signed the additional funds passed by Congress into law to ensure more money is available to help small businesses who are hurting by no fault of their own. It’s a shame we had to wait for this additional funding for weeks while businesses hung in the balance due to Democrats’ political games, but the replenishment is now ready to help even more companies as we start to re-open America and get our economy on track. Information on these programs can be found HERE.

Let’s Re-Open America!
I’ve been calling for the safe re-opening of America for weeks now! As I’ve said all along, we need to handle both the economic devastation and the health devastation at the same time – I know we can do it. Americans need to get back to work – they WANT to get back to work – and we can achieve this goal in a thoughtful and responsible way. We can’t fight one battle and let the other battle overtake us. I’m proud that President Trump has laid out guidelines to re-open America, and now states around the country are starting to take action.

Economic Impact Payments
Millions of Americans have started to see the economic impact payment show up in their bank account. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is working around the clock to continue sending this much needed assistance to all eligible Americans.

Halting World Health Organization (WHO) Funding
President Trump made the right call to halt funding to the WHO, and I joined my colleagues this week in thanking him for this action and for putting America first!

The letter reads… “Not only do the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) actions fit a long pattern of malfeasance and warrant global condemnation, the WHO was a willing accomplice to the CCP’s coverup scheme and played a critical role in spreading their lies and misinformation. As the single largest contributor to the WHO, the U.S. must hold the organization accountable for failing its mission to identify, mitigate, and manage public health risks.”

Business Leader Input
The South Carolina Department of Commerce is asking for input from business leaders as we work to re-open America and revitalize our economy. You can participate in the survey HERE.
