(Remarks Delivered on the House Floor, July 24, 2012)

“Thank you Mr. Chairman, and thanks Natural Resources Committee for their hard work on this issue.”

“As my good friend, Jeff Landry, the Congressman from Louisiana reminds us, ‘DRILLING=JOBS.’”

“And Republicans have a job plan for creation in America. And it begins, you know it begins, not with the government takeover of our healthcare industry like the Democrats thought would create jobs. It begins with America pursuing energy independence, utilizing the resources that we are blessed with in this country primarily right now in the offshore areas. We do this by EXPANDing the areas of our outer continental shelf that are included in our Nation’s plan for exploration over the next 5 years.”

“It seems simple to the average American, and that’s what frustrates them so much, that we would refuse to at least explore our reserves and meet our energy needs in this country. Now, with a 9.4% unemployment rate in South Carolina, South Carolina understands that drilling=jobs, jobs we want, and that is why the Palmetto state, their offshore area is included within this bill.  I would urge my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, to support this Americans jobs and energy initiative by passing HR 6082 and with that I yield back.”
